  Hello fellow festival-goers... my husband and I are about to embark on a new adventure next week and join you all at RockyGrass!  While we are familiar with Colorado and it's surroundings, we are not familiar with this festival and would LOVE any do's and don'ts when it comes to camping - maybe ideas on what to do in between sets - places to eat, shop, etc.,  Any MUST DO's, we would love to know. We are very outdoorsy folks and would love to see and try new things. We are arriving early Thursday to get in line to set up camp.  Our site is across the highway from the Festival grounds ....

Since you will be there for 4 nites, setting a comfortable camp is key. Besides your tent, Having a 10X10 EZ UP is a good start. Provides shade from the sun and a bit of a refuge from the occasional rain shower. Add a folding table, to put a  cook stove for AM coffee and/or hot breakfast. Coolers for food and drink. Camp chairs. 
At the festival, you will want a small tarp to claim your viewing and seating spot. Small chairs for the venue. A soft collapsable cooler is nice to have at the shows for food and drink. An umbrella has come in pretty handy the last few years.  I usually dunk my body in the St Vrain River (runs thru the concert grounds) so I usually wear swim trunks all day and change into dry shorts and t-shirt for the later shows. Bring sweatshirt or fleece for the evening. You will be glad you did. Sunscreen and use your own water bottles, good drinking water at the venue.
Plenty of good food to buy inside the festival.
I could write a  novel about what bring. This is a good start.

Support merchants when possible.
Bye your ice from the volunteer fire fighters circulating the campgrounds. I always over pay. It's going to a good cause.

Support the town during the day!  Breakfast at Stone Cup, Barking Dog Cafe, or Button Rock Bakery!

For food we normally go to town if we don't get food from the vendors on the festival grounds. For breakfast we normally go to the Barking Dog Cafe. For Lunch/Dinner we go to the pizza place called Pizza Bar 66 or the St. Vrain Market for sandwich from the deli.  Although, the food vendors are hard to beat. They have gyros, Abo's pizza, ice cream, fish tacos, crepes, and I believe, a breakfast burrito place.

In between sets you can go get merch signed or meet the musicians at the merchandize tent and go shopping at the vendors tents. Or if you're artistic bring watercolors. The kids bring paracord and make bracelets. Bring low-back chairs and watershoes(I learned that the hard way)! Also, bring tubes to go tubing on the river (the river might be really fast this year, though). But trust me, you'll almost always have something to do

Getting a shower can be tough. At Meadow Park the water seems to always be cold lol, but the best place to get a shower is on-site. Always warm, clean. Privacy is not the best, but I just wear a swimsuit.

PS: don't forget you rain gear!

Be sure to bring low back chairs or you won't be able to sit in the front 2/3rds of the festival:)

-sunscreen. Apply sunscreen and when you think you have enough, add some more.
-If you line up really early in the morning to get a good spot and didn't stay up until the wee hours of the night, be prepared to be passed by a couple hundred people with line numbers that looked like they stayed up all night but are wearing running shoes. That's a tough learning curve....
- make sure to have a swim suit. You will want to get in the river.
- when you are sweating bullets and think you might die of heat stroke, don't be intimidated to sit on the empty tarp in the shade under the tree. That's the rules. If a tarp is empty, you can sit on it until the people come back. And even then, you will probably just become friends. Otherwise, just thank them for the space and move onto the next empty tarp. Same goes for the tarps in the front row if you happen to be someone that can soak up sun for hours without a second thought. If that is the case, you are probably not coming from the mountains and more power to you. I do envy those folks, they have a great view.
-bring a water bottle and fill up often. Rocky Grass has great water.
- check out the wildflower. It's always fun.
- Make sure to eat the dumplings.
- have a blast!
