Came to Telluride yesterday via I70 and encountered substantial construction. My son and daughter are coming today. Is the 285-50E route under repair or is it relatively smooth (and beautiful) driving this year?

Thanks for the advice.

The bridge at FairPlay had such high water running under it that it has been closed a lot over the last few days... I would check http://www.cotrip.org/roadConditions.htm?type=alert&id=221273 ...there is a detour, but my wife drove it a few days ago and said detour wasn't too bad. Also, the Fibark whitewater festival is beginning in Salida, so there will be plenty of traffic so give yourselves time. Still faster than I-70 though, which has a ton of construction... Driving

Thanks for the heads up and for the road report. The 285-50 drive is so much prettier than I70, too.
