Woww ! Am still reeling with the news they won and you are all so right that its a huge stance for Independent songwriters and singers finally getting recognition amongst the otherwise overhyped corporate bullies of the film world(maybe a little unfair but a real David and Goliath victory for a film costing £100k filmed on 2 camcorders!) Their music is exquisite and the story fully compliments the music and must have been a real pull to have gotten the OSCAR!!!Gosh!
Enough of my ramblings,I am a Frames fan of about 14 years now which is still late in some peoples eyes(and ears!) Did you know Glen was one of the musicians in the classic film The Commitments-go check it out! He and his band are stunning live,simply stunning. I travelled all the way to Holland from the Isle of Man (cant walk it!) to see them in a fab small venue in Utrecht and what a show.He plays to YOU! The Swell Season with the delicately lovely Marketa oozes a very emotive coupling of 2 wonderful musicians and when you do get to see the film ONCE (you will want to see it more trust me) you will see how the self titled Swell Season album is reflected in the film and also the official Soundtrack(try and listen to it AFTER the film-trust me)
Well we Celtic Frames fans(I am probably a very rare MANX one at that!) only just got the nod that they have been added to your wonderful festival(shame I hadnt heard of it earlier) and checking out the site it seems any reasonable accommodation and localised camping has pretty much gone!  Could some kind souls offer some sound advice as I would dearly like to make the trip to Colorado for the Festival,for the Frames,for the Swell Season,for vacation!!
Any local info and advice would be gratefully received!!!

Thats kind of you thanks Dustin. Well I just love the idea of coming all the way over,they are seriosuly worth it but it would be fate to do the trip as I would get to enjoy a whole new experience tht I otherwise might have missed!!

TRUST me lenny, there isn't an unreasonable camping spot in Telluride! you can buy any of the tickets that are still onsale now and feel great with your purchase knowing you'll have an AMAZING time. however, if you want to have the Town park experience some of us talk so much about, then just post a message (this one should work  ) in the ticket swap/exchange section and plead your heart out. you've joined pretty early on, so i'd say your chances are good. there could be someone out there waiting for the last minute to make someone reeealllly happy! I hope you make the trip out, it will be a vacation to remember, I can promise you that! if I were you, I'd buy a ticket for lawson or mary E now while you can, and hope for a TP pass to become available in the future (but, like I said, you don't need a Town park pass to experience the crazy amazingness that is the telluride bluegrass festival). So, welcome to the forum! once you get a feel of the energy of this forum, i think you'll feel good about how to go about getting a ticket.  peace

Nice reference to The Commitments, Lenny! It’s an oldie but a goodie. Great soundtrack. Andrea Corr is in that flick, too. Although, you’d never know it was her…

What still astounds me is the lead singer in the movie was only SIXTEEN!! That guy can really wail… such a powerful voice.

Check it out, kids! Ah, but be forewarned… it’s not bluegrass, it’s more blues-y. Still, it’s good stuff!

Thanks for all the posts and messages. I have to say you are right about getting used to the "energy" of the forums. Dustin and Jen have been particularly enthused and that says an awful lot about the place and event. I am from a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea but its a fab place and we too are proud of it and would love everyone to come over. ( Isle of Man website )We dabble in festivals and we have a Blues fest every May (10th anniversary this year the link is    Bushys Blues Fest Isle of Man
I am right on the verge of buying the ticket in fact I am sure it will be either tonight or this weekend but I had another flash of inspiration-considering heading to TN to Bonnaroo for first time too-its the weekend before and a local band from the island(also Blues but WAY to good for their age    Back Door Slam bands website as you will hear on their myspace page)Maybe one for a future show??......Anyhow just to add further complications to my travels I now want to get from Isle of Man to Bonnaroo/Tride(see I am getting "localised" all the time! and see some friends in SLC then head home to pay it all off!
So am presently considering flight UK-TN,Bonnaroo,hire car to Tride,continue to SLC then fly home.
If anyone knows obvious cheap cheap flights even to surrounding airports/states that I can then drive to TN/CO then please advise.

That’s interesting background on Strong how he got his big break. Sounds as if he’s living the good life. That's awesome he can still wail!

I’ve seen Kennedy in a handful of films, but I never realized she was an accomplished musician. Thanks for the FYI on Black Velvet. I’ll definitely give them a listen… if I can find them.
All I’ve found thus far is that Black Velvet = Guinness + champagne. <yum>
