It's a ton of fun for kids. There are lots of games around the venue, like giant connect 4 and hula hoops... There's usually a face painting tent. The back of the seating area is usually kid zone because you can put shelters up there. It's kind of nuts with all of them running around crazy, but it's alright if you don't mind. There is a kids area for them to play in the river.
I can't remember if there is anywhere to get earplugs but the later it gets the louder it gets.
Also, the later it gets, the more drunk the general populous is.
I don't know where you're camping but Meadow Park is super chill. We've never camped on site.
Other than that, just the basics; sunscreen, a hat, bathing suit...
