The Rockygrass booklet attributed Fincastle Va as having the first multi-day Bluegrass festival (1965), but the Old Fiddler's Convention in Galax, Virginia was two days since it's inception in 1935, and by 1965 was three full days.  Although the organizers didn't refer to it as a "Bluegrass" festival, Bluegrass was played there from the early '40s.  I love the RG festival, but feel that this bit of mis-information should be adressed, so the origin of the multi-day festival is correctly given to Galax, where it all started.

LOL

Stompin' '76 was another whole deal altogether, and resulted in both counties involved passing laws against any such gathering ever taking place again.  I remember being 5 years old and seeing thousands of people walking to the sight.

 Cheers
