Anyone know what the story is with camping in TP if you arrive Thursday (14th) night late?? Can we set up camp then? Will there be PBlugrass folk there or will they not be in action until Friday??

There won't be PB folks "in action" until Saturday morning.  Wed/Thu/Fri, there's a little dance we all do, which goes something like this:

Some Saturday the 9th, we will manage to book every "official" campsite we can in Town park for the week up to the 16th.  This means each site is subject to standard Town park Camping rules:  2 cars, 2 tents ( or something like that ) per site.  Now the reality is that come Wednesday, we start stretching the rules a little bit...trying to not piss off the campground management, but needing to make room for more family rolling in.  From Wednesday evening until Friday evening is always a little delicate, depending on Rick's mood each year.  Some years they really try to make us all stick to the letter of the law, other years it's mellower.

Reality is, come Friday late afternoon, *we* take over.  Planet Bluegrass is not officially in charge until Saturday AM, but come Friday late day, the serious construction begins in earnest, and people start packing in.

If you're going to roll in late Thursday, you might be better stopping somewhere like Ilium for the night, and rolling into Town park on Friday AM instead.  It won't make a difference in where you camp, but you're going to wander around Friday looking for the perfect spot anyway, so why set up something in the dark?

FYI, Rick, alias "Q,"  has decided to have more time to himself and is working w/ Telluride Parks and Rec. for consulting/ advising/ F______ S___ Up.  Fortunately for him he'll be better able to enjoy this and other park activities w/o being required to F___ S___ Up.  Of course, Telluriders will miss Rick in his position because he cares for the park/ Town/ Locals.  Would you like to be Local?  It's easy, serve.

Incidentally, yes camping is possible in Town Park Thursday 14th.  By that date most sites will be full.  Perhaps you'll be able to find a site to share . . .  There will be many tarps spread out, unoccupied . . . holding space w/ intention, conviction, though hopefully not malice.  Niceness goes along way, though proper credentials mandatory.  There will be TP camping passes available off the trade board by the Box Office, TP bathrooms and at random friendly faces near you.  And among other causes for celebration and remembrance this year, let's make it Hug Harrington year, alias "Q," hopefully you'll recognize him as the tall guy getting lots of hugs.

Is there another Rick?  The big guy with, pony tail, tie-dye, and back turned also needs lots of hugs.
