Not TBF related.. but just wanted to chime in mate, when I was 22 (along with my 18 y/o brother) I toured the east coast from the Daintree down to Sydney catching all the sites along the way.. it was AWESOME.  Such a wonderful country, and I only saw a part of it.  Daintree Rainforest (where the rainforest meets the reef) The Great Barrier Reef, Frasier Island, Whitsunday Islands, Mt Warning, Byron Bay, the BLUE MOUNTAINS, holy cow is that a beautiful place or what.  Easy to recognize beauty such as Telluride when you're coming from somewhere as awesome as Oz

I took this at McKenzie Lake on Frasier Island.. yes this is LAKE.  You can imagine what their beaches look like!

OK well here's what one beach looked like (Whitehaven Beach in the Whitesunday Islands)

Hey Jackalope.... Beautiful pictures Thumbs Up
Personally I think you have been to the best part of the world if you have traveled he East Coast of Australia! I live in the hills behind Byron Bay and it really is paradise....
Lake McKenzie on Fraser Island is a very special place... I have been there many times and every time I go there it just blows me away.
Whitehaven Beach is again an absolute jewel....
BUT, having seen an awful lot of pictures of Telluride, I have to say it seems to have a bit going for it in the beauty stakes.Cannot wait.....
Maybe we can catch up for a coldie next year and reminisce?
Cheers
Rob

Many years ago, I lived in Sydney (downtown and Double Bay) for about 18 months and I spent about a year in Cairns.  Tended bar at the Sydney Hilton ( including the Marble Bar) and The Great Northern in Cairns.  Best part... 6 months sailing the Barrier Reef.  Worst???  6 weeks on a Prawn trawler out of Darwin.  In all a great expreience!

Wave HI RKG,  No one has mentioned the FREE BOX in  Telluride.  That would be the first place I'd look for warm clothes.  It is in downtown Tride, and everything in it is FREE.  Clothes mostly, but sometimes there are interesting items that make it into Town Park for the festival, and then end up back in the Free Box afterwards.  It's about the only place I can afford to shop in Telluride.
As others have said on here, do take the time to read through the forums, and 99% of your questions will have already been asked by others and answered by many. (sometimes they stray off topic, but stick with it, you'll get there)!  And you are smart to even start thinking about 2013; it will be the 40th Telluride Bluegrass Festival, so LOOK OUT!  Try to plan some extra time before and after the festival so you can acclimate to our beautiful state, and take in so much of what Colorado has to offer: Hiking, biking, rafting, climbing, jeeping, parasailing, paddleboarding, skiing (snow and water), rockhounding, gold panning, ancient cliff dwellings and Indian ruins, and the ever-popular DRINKING!  Lots of breweries beckon, and some wineries too.
Bet you wish you were coming this year, huh?  Cheers

Hey Cindy Lou...
Sure do wish I was going this year, but I guess all good things come to those who wait!
Thanks for the tip on the Free Box.... sounds interesting. Would love to spend a few weeks in Colorado, but it's not going to be possible the way things are looking. My wife wants to get over to New York and spend some time on the East Coast exploring... That's fine with me... at least I get to go to Telluride!
Cheers
