This is our first time camping at Meadow Park and the first time bringing our toddler.  Unfortunately we were unable to get a vehicle pass. So I am totally lost on how we should plan to get our things into the campsite easily since our hands will be full with the little guy.

I was hoping someone could explain a few things to me or offer any advice at all on this subject:
(1) are you allowed to bring your car in while you set up your camp and then drive it out?
(2) where do we park our car during the festival since it will not be with us?
(3) perhaps I should come a day earlier (wednesday) than we plan to camp (without husband + kid in tow) and set up our tent so when we arrive on thurs there is no problem - is this ok to do?
(4) any recommendations of an ideal spot to look for to camp with the kiddo?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

1)yes, since you have the camping pass at MPark, they allow you to drive, unload in a reasonable time, then repark your car...
2)at the designated parking area only about 5 minutes away, a place called Bohn Park in Lyons, there are clear signs directing you to parking area
3)absofrigginlutely, the sooner you come, the more enjoyable experience, many come Mon-Tue-Wed and into the festival, some as late as Friday to access the festival and MPark camping.  It is a fantastic event/camping space, however...
4) i recommend you bring an ez up or other shelter (Kelty's tend to trap heat imo), to put beside your tent to grant you some relief from the sun.  There are only shade spots along the river, which is adjacent to MPark, but those spots are taken as early as Monday morning prior to the festival.

The festival itself has a plentitude of shade, the river runs next to the festival (as well as MPark) so bring your bathing suit, sunscreen, hats, flops, family, and smiles and be prepared to make an annual trek to the promised land

I just want to clarify that you won't be able to set up your tent in the campground until Thursday.  I think there may have been some confusion on your point #3. Heck I might be the one confused but I'd hate for you to show up thinking you would be able to set up camp and then not be able to do so.

There is a pretty nice little playground right next to where the cars line-up prior to the campground opening so maybe one of you could play with the little one while the other stakes out your camping claim? There is also a nice little playground in Meadow Park so you could keep the little one busy and out of the way there too.

Here is the campground line-up procedure:

Cheers.

Retsin2000,
That procedure is for on-site camping, not for camping at Meadow Park.  You can set up your tent at Meadow Park at any time.  However, if you show up too early you'll need to pay to camp there the additional days before Planet Bluegrass takes over the park.  I think that Planet Bluegrass takes over the park on Saturday (not 100% sure it's Sat.)  and if you show up any time after that you will not be charged for any additional camping - you just need to have the Meadow Park camping pass from Planet Bluegrass.

Sweet. Thanks for the clarification. Sorry if I created any confusion.  Like I said I might be the one confused. :)
