We're staying at Warner and want to get in early Wednesday morning.  Where's a good place to stay (probably camping but might be down for a hotel with the 4 of us) for Tuesday night that can get us to T-Ride early on Wednesday?

Thanks!

There are hotels in Montrose (hour and twenty minute drive) and Ridgeway (40 minutes) and Ouray (50 minutes), and camping in Ouray and right by Ridgway, as well as some camping just south of Sawmill.  Plenty of options available.

Woods Lake, Sunshine, & Matterhorn are all developed campgrounds within 30 minutes of Telluride ... which might have availability, but might be chancing it.

There are also undeveloped spots further south up on lizard head pass or off the jeep road from Trout Lake -> Hope Lake.   It never hurts to go to the NFS/BLM station (there's one in Montrose) and look at or buy a map so you know what is what regarding public/private lands.

Ouray is a beautiful mountain town nearby.  My friends and I stayed at this hotel (think hostel, Tombstone style).  Excellent spot to serve as an appetizer for T'ride, easy on the budget, and a good opportunity for a hot shower before the festival.

I'm staying in the Teddy Roosevelt room at the Historic Southern Hotel in Dolores.  Supposedly, Teddy stayed there back in the day.  I hope they've changed the mattress.  Word has it breakfast there rocks.

The food is VERY good, but the service isn't very fast so if you're starving have him make you something to munch on while you're waiting.
